Bones ventro-posteriorily attached to the urostyle, supporting one or more fin-rays of the caudal fin. They look like expanded hemal spines of the vertebrae which are forming the urostyle, but are not homologous to such elements because they never have hemal arches at their bases. (Tail skeleton )
