ballayi: Dedicated to Noël Eugène Ballay (*1848, Fontenay-sur-Eure), participant of the expedition of Savorgnan de Brazza, he explored the Ogowe and the upper courses of the Alima and Licona rivers. Explored the land of the Batekees, became, in 1886, one of the comissaries to define the border lines between the »Congo français» and »Congo belge« (recently Republic of Congo-Brazzaville and Democratic Republic of Congo), on which occasion he studied the valley of Niari-Kouilou. Finely became governor of French Guinea. (Courtesy M. L. Bauchot and J. Daget in lit.)
