Etymology
bane and Déquémé, Bénné: vernacular Arabian names of the fish;
joannisii, dejoannis: dedicated Daniel-Léon de Joannis (1803-1868), French navy officer, took part in the transportation of an obelisque of the temple of Amon at Luxor, erected by Ramses II, to Paris in 1831; collected some fishes of the Nile river. (Bauchot et al., 1990: 94). The obelisque was a present of the viceroy of Egypt, Mohammed Ali to France in 1830, erected at the Place de la Concorde in 1836.
ehrenbergii: dedicated to Christian-Gottfried Ehrenberg (1795-1876) German physician, ichthyologist, university of Leipzig. Travelled 1820-1825 on behalf of the Prussian Academy of Berlin in Libya, Egypt, Nubia and Abessinia, collected fishes in the Red Sea and in the Nile. (Bauchot et al., 1990: 80).
tchadensis: after the origin, Chad regioen, (lat) --ensis: geographical origin or habitat.
