Species overview
Small sized fish, body moderately deep, head round-snouted, mouth subterminal, dorsal fin slightly shorter than anal. Dark brown. Size observed:

Taxonomic description
-Body moderately elongate, laterally compressed, body depth 19-23% SL, greatest depth near anal fin.
-Head length 24-27 % SL, head depth 16-18 % SL, 79-89 % body depth.
-Outline of back slightly convex to straight, front profile strongly convex, gular profile slightly concave.
-Snout with blunt and deep upper jaw, length of snout 16-20 % head length, 29-30 % postorbital length.
-Mouth subterminal, its edge reaching to level between the nostrils, upper jaw on a level with lower edge base of pectoral fin.
-Chin inconspicuous, without swelling.
-Teeth notched, 5/6.
-Nostrils separate, circular, anterior one on level with centre of eye, posterior on a level with lower rim of eye, axis of nostrils cutting axis of head at an angle of about 45ª.
-Eye diameter 10-12 % head length, 16-18 % postorbital length.
-Opercular cleft slightly curved, 29-36 % head length.
-Dorsal fin 16-18 fin-rays, base of D 15-19 % SL, anal fin 21-23 rays, base of A 20-22 % SL, origin of D behind origin of A, end of D nearly opposite to end of A; predorsal length 64-67 % SL, preanal length 59-64 % SL.
-Pectoral fin obtusely pointed, not reaching to base of pelvic fin, base of P is above lower edge of opercular cleft. V is slightly closer to P than to A.
-Caudal fin with rounded scaled lobes about as long as the rounded membranes. 57-60 scales in lateral line; 12 round caudal peduncle.
-Caudal peduncle 15-19 % SL, its depth 6-7 % SL, 29-46 % its length.
-Coloration, dark brown all over.
