Medium-sized fish, moderately body deep, head slightly longer than deep, snout rounded, mouth subterminal, dorsal fin slightly longer than anal fin. Size observed: 165 mm SL, 187 mm TL.

Taxonomic description
-Body moderately elongate, body depth 23-27 % SL, greatest depth near anal fin; head slightly longer than deep, head length 22-26 % SL, head depth 18-22 % SL, 72-79 % body depth.
-Outlines of back and belly slightly curved, bases of both dorsal and anal fin straight, upper profile of head rounded, underside of head slightly concave.
-Snout slightly protruding mouth, length of snout 20-25 % head length, 35-44 % postorbital length.
-Mouth subterminal, its edge below nostrils. upper jaw on a level with lower edge origin of pectoral fin.
-Chin with moderate submental swelling.
-Teeth notched, 5-7/6-8.
-Nostrils separate, circular, anterior on the level of centre of eye, posterior a little below, 25-37 % snout length away from eye, axis of nostrils cutting axis of head at an angle of about 30°.
-Opercular cleft 31-36 % head length, 38-43 % head depth.
-Dorsal fin 20-22 fin-rays, base 18-22 % SL, anal 25-28 rays, base 22-27 % SL, origin of D behind A, end of D before end of A.
-Pectoral fin obtusely pointed, reaching base of pelvic fin or little beyond; V closer to P than to A.
-Caudal fin obtusely pointed, basal half densely scaled. 71-80 scales in lateral line, 12 (14) round caudal peduncle.
-Caudal peduncle 20-23 % SL, its depth 5-6 % SL, 24-31 % its length.
-Coloration »Brown, a more or less indistinct dark vertical bar between anterior part of D and A«.
