Species overview
Small fish, body moderately elongate and deep, head slightly longer than body depth, longer than deep, snout slightly truncate, feebly protruding mouth; caudal peduncle short and deep. Body uniform dark. Size observed: 94 mm SL, 108 mm TL.

Taxonomic description
-Body moderately elongate, laterally compressed, cross section oblong-oval, body depth 26-30 % SL, greatest depth at middle of body.
-Head length 26-31 % SL; head depth 21-23 % SL, 73-84 % body depth.
-Outline of back slightly convex, upper profile of head convex or, underside of head concave, outline of belly slightly convex.
-Snout truncate, feebly protruding mouth, 14-22 % head length, 24-36 % postorbital length.
-Mouth 16-22 % head length, slightly subterminal, its edge below anterior rim of eye, upper jaw on a level with lower edge base of pectoral fin.
-Chin inconspicuous.
-Teeth notched, 6-7/7-8.
-Nostrils clearly separate, posterior nostril oval, anterior on a level with lower rim of eye, posterior nostril close to edge of mouth.
-Eye diameter 12-17 % head length, 18-29 % postorbital length.
-Opercular cleft curved, 28-36 % head length, 40-45 % head depth.
-Dorsal fin 16-17 fin-rays, base of D 18-22 % SL, anal fin 20-22 rays, base of A 20-25 % SL, origin of D behind origin of A, end of D more or less opposite end of A; predorsal length 64-69 % SL, preanal length 60-65 % SL.
-Pectoral fin obtusely pointed, extending to middle of pelvic fin or slightly beyond. V is closer to P than to A.
-Caudal fin obtusely pointed, the scaled lobes rounded, extending over 1/4 of the fin. 47-51 scales in lateral line, only 36-40 with pores; 12 round caudal peduncle.
-Caudal peduncle 15-19 % SL, its depth 7-8 % SL, 42-52 % its length.
-Coloration »Body and fins uniform very dark brown«. Fin membranes transparent.
