Species overview
Small fish, body moderately elongate and deep, head longer than body depth and its own depth, snout rounded or slightly truncate, feebly protruding mouth which is slightly subterminal; caudal peduncle short, deep. Body and fins dark brown.
Size observed: 56 mm SL, 65 mm TL.

Taxonomic description
-Body moderately elongate, laterally compressed, cross section oblong-oval, body depth 24-32 % SL, greatest depth at about middle of body.
-Head length 31-34 % SL; head depth 21-27 % SL, 81-91 % body depth.
-Outline of back more or less straight, upper profile of head convex, underside of head concave, outline of belly slightly convex.
-Snout truncate to round, 12-19 % head length, 16-29 % postorbital length.
-Mouth width 14-19 % head length, slightly subterminal, its edge below posterior nostril, upper jaw on a level with lower edge base of pectoral fin.
-Chin inconspicuous.
-Teeth notched 7/7-8.
-Nostrils clearly separate, posterior nostril oval, anterior on a level with lower rim of eye, posterior nostril close to edge of mouth.
-Eye diameter 7-11 % head length, 10-17 % postorbital length.
-Opercular cleft curved 29-46 % head length, 42-55 % head depth.
-Dorsal fin 16-18 fin-rays, base of D 17-25 % SL, anal fin 20-23 rays, base of A 22-27 % SL, origin of D behind origin of A, end of D more or less opposite end of A; predorsal length 63-69 % SL, preanal length 57-64 % SL.
-Pectoral fin obtusely pointed, extending to middle of pelvic fin or slightly beyond. V is closer to P than to A.
-Caudal fin rounded, the scaled lobes, also rounded, extending over 1/3 of the fin. 44-51 scales in lateral line, only 12-17 with pores; 12-14 scales round caudal peduncle.
-Caudal peduncle very short, 12-16 % SL, its depth 7-8 % SL, 43-62 % its length.
-Coloration »Uniform brown, more or less dark, fins included«. Fin-rays dark, membranes transparent.
