Medium sized fish, moderately elongate, back and belly straight, snout short, tubular, moderately curved down. Size observed: 285 mm SL.

Taxonomic description
-Body moderately elongate, laterally compressed, body depth 22-24 % SL, greatest depth between pelvic and anal fin.
-Outlines of back and belly straight, upper profile of head evenly curved to tip of snout, underside of head concave.
-Head length, without snout, 16-22 % SL, snout inclusive 22-30 % SL; head depth 14-18 % SL, 70-75 % body depth.
-Snout rather short, 110-120 % postorbital length, about 3 times as long as its least depth, tubular, angel of inclination 20-30°.
-Mouth directed forward, its edge far away from anterior nostril, upper jaw below underside of head.
-Chin with submental swelling, barbel short, thick, compressed.
-Teeth conical, 3-4/4, the two lower median are longest.
-Nostrils separate, oval, a little above lower margin of orbit, anterior a little above posterior which is nearly one eye diameter away from the eye.
-Eye moderately big, 32-37 % postorbital length.
-Opercular cleft straight, 36-43 % head depth.
-Dorsal fin 27, anal fin 31, indicated for the holotype only, base of D 23-25 % SL, base of A 26-27 % SL, D originating behind, ending before A; predorsal length 57-64 % SL, preanal length 56-62 % SL pectoral fin obtusely pointed, its base close to lower half of opercular cleft, extending somewhat behind base of pelvic. V closer to P than to A.
-Caudal fin obtusely pointed, scaled portion rounded, short. Scales, indicated for holotype only, at least 80, 12 around caudal peduncle. Length of caudal peduncle 16-19 % SL, its depth 5-6 % SL, 27-33 % its length.
-Coloration Dark brown marbled with blackish, two faint, blackish bands between D and A, fins dark with lighter margins.
