Species overview
Medium-sized fish, body moderately elongate, upper profile of head straight to feebly convex above eye, caudal peduncle rather deep with 16 scales around. Size observed: 187 mm SL.

Taxonomic description
-Body moderately elongate and deep, laterally compressed, depth of body 25-30 % SL, greatest depth near anal fin. Length of head 23-27 % SL; depth of head 19-22 % SL, 63-99 % depth of body.
-Outline of back straight, upper of head straight to feebly convex above the eye, underside of head slightly concave, outline of belly curved.
-Snout pointed, 18-24 % length of head, 29-41 % postorbital length.
-Mouth terminal, 15-25 % length of head, its edge reaching to anterior nostril, upper jaw on a level with centre of eye.
-Chin with globular swelling.
-Teeth conical, 3-5/6.
-Nostrils separate, circular, anterior nostril on a level with upper rim of eye, posterior nostril on a level with centre of eye; axis of nostrils cutting axis of head at an angle of about 60°.
-Eye diameter 12-17 % length of head, 18-30 % postorbital length.
-Opercular cleft curved, 37-46 % length of head, 41-58 % depth of head.
-Dorsal fin 22 -25 fin-rays, base of D 17-22 % SL, anal fin 27-31 rays, base of A 23-26 % SL, origin of D posterior to origin of A, end of D anterior to end of A; predorsal length 61-65 % SL, preanal length 57-62 % SL.
-Pectoral fin obtusely pointed, extending to base of pelvic fin. V is closer to P than to A.
-Caudal fin obtusely pointed, the scaled lobes obtusely pointed, extending to middle of membranous lobes. 60-70 scales in lateral line; 16 round caudal peduncle.
-Caudal peduncle 14-21 % SL, its depth 6-8 % SL, 32-49 % its length.
-Coloration »Golden-brown dorsally, yellow or golden ventrally«, countershaded.
