Species overview
Very small fish, body moderately elongate and deep, head slightly shorter than body depth, slightly longer than deep, snout rounded or slightly truncate, feebly protruding mouth; caudal peduncle short, moderately deep. Greenish-grey, dotted black, without marbling.
Size observed: 65 mm SL, 74 mm TL.

Taxonomic description
-Body moderately elongate, laterally compressed, cross section oblong-oval, body depth 28-31 % SL, greatest depth above pelvic fin.
-Head length 25-27 % SL; head depth 22-24 % SL, 78-81 % body depth.
-Outline of back more or less straight, upper profile of head strongly convex, underside of head convex, outline of belly slightly convex, bases of unpaired fins running moderately steep to caudal peduncle.
-Snout truncate, 15-20 % head length, 22-29 % postorbital length.
-Mouth 17-21 % head length, slightly subterminal, its edge below posterior nostril, upper jaw on a level with upper edge base of pectoral fin.
-Chin inconspicuous.
-Teeth 7/7.
-Nostrils separate, circular, anterior nostril on a level below centre of eye, posterior nostril on a level with lower rim of lens, close to rim of eye. Axis of nostrils cutting axis of head at an angle of less than 30°.
-Eye diameter 13-18 % head length, 18-29 % postorbital length. Opercular cleft curved, 29-32 % head length, 32-37 % head depth.
-Dorsal fin 19 fin-rays, base of D 18-20 % SL, anal fin 26 rays, base of A 22-26 % SL, origin of D behind origin of A, end of D more or less opposite end of A; predorsal length 60-62 % SL, preanal length 57-59 % SL.
-Pectoral fin pointed, length, extending nearly to tip of pelvic fin. V is closer to P than to A.
-Caudal fin rounded, the scaled lobes also rounded, extending over 1/3 the length of the membranous part. 48 scales in lateral line; 12 round caudal peduncle.
-Caudal peduncle 17-24 % SL, its depth 5-7 % SL, 25-32 % its length.
-Coloration »Light greenish grey, dotted black on head and back, not marbled as in Pollimyrus st. stappersii.
